American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course

Participants must attend all sessions

Course includes certifications in American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen.

Prerequisites:

** Be at least 15 years of age by the last day of the scheduled course.

**Pass the following swimming test:  Perform a long, shalow front dive, and then swim 500 yards, inluding 100 yards each of: sidestroke, front crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke kick with one arm forward, and inverted breast stroke kick with arms on the stomach.

**Tread water for at least two minutes with legs only

**Surface dive headfirst and feet first in 8-10 feet of water and swim underwater for 15 feet

The course certifies participants to work at any pool, water park, or waterfront (non-surf) aquatics facility.  The course teaches participants aquatic safety, personal safety and survival skills, aquatic environments and aquati science, aquatic rescues including situation assessment, how to handle spinal injuries, SCUBA emergencies, open water rescues, victim recognition, scanning techiniques, pool maintenance and testing, and legal responsibilites.

Fee:  $140 includes all materials needed for certification
