The YMCA of the Okobojis has been under Norm's leadership since August of 2006. Norm, is known locally as the man behind Boot Camp, the ever popular fitness class. Norm's passion for the YMCA is evident not only in his leadership of the YMCA of the Okobojis, but he is also faculty for the YMCA of the USA in Health and Fitness with personal training as an area of emphasis.
MeShell Cornett

A native of Southern California, then migrating to Australia for twenty years, MeShell returns to the United States with many experiences and certifications in the beauty industry. Her varied skills enable her to stay on top of the YMCA’s finance world, If you haven’t attended her Water Aerobics Class then you’re missing out on a great exercise and some laughs. Don’t forget to ask her ‘what does a koala do? And you wont be disappointed.
Brooke Riordan
School Age Program Director
brooke.riordan@okobojiymca.com Brooke has always been a Northwest Iowa girl. She currently lives in the Spirit Lake area and has worked for the Bedell Family YMCA for over a year before becoming our School Age Director. Brooke worked in the school aged program and also as an assistant day camp director out at Camp Foster. She has developed amazing relationships with kids, families, and YMCA staff, and loves working with and helping them out in any way possible. Brooke is a great example of a person who puts the YMCA mission and values into place both professionally and personally. She is a 2009 graduate of Buena Vista University-B.A. in Business Management with a Minor in Psychology. She is very passionate and dedicated to her job and helping others, and looks forward to growing relationships within the Lakes Area Community.
Sasha Courbat
Senior Program Director, Wellness, Aquatics

Sasha began her YMCA career in 2005 as a Wellness Director. She became a valued asset to the Bedell Family YMCA in August of 2007, as a Senior Program Director. Sasha is passionate about empowering individuals to improve their physical and mental well-being. Sasha's energy is contagious as she leads others on their journey to a healthy fit lifestyle. She is quick to welcome members and enjoys all sporting events.
Jennifer Crane
Membership/Marketing Director

Jennifer is fairly new to the Lakes area. She is originally from Rock Valley, Iowa where she grew up playing competitive sports. Jennifer's love for athletics continued on into her education at the University of South Dakota, where she received her Master's Degree in Athletic Administration. Jennifer gained 8 years of golf membership and marketing experience while living in North Carolina, but is very excited to be back in the Midwest. We are delighted to have Jennifer and her diverse knowledge here as part of the Bedell Family YMCA team.
Andrew Fisher
Senior Program Director, Sports, Kinship, School Age Child Care

Andrew comes to the YMCA of the Okoboji's from the Ottumwa YMCA where he served as the Program Assistant for Sports and Wellness. Being the Physical Director, Andrew is responsible for youth/adult sports as well as serving members in various wellness/fitness facets. Andrew is a 2007 graduate of William Penn University where he double majored in Sports Administration and Strength and Conditioning. While at William Penn, Andrew was a member of the National Tournament qualifying Men's Basketball team. His hometown is Blakesburg, Iowa.
Megan Little
Aquatics Director

Megan is originally from Lawrence, Kansas were she competitively swam for 12 years. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a General Studies degree. Megan competed for the University of Northern Iowa women’s swim team from 2003-2007. She was team captain her senior year during this time she qualified for the Top 5 times in 200 and 100 butterfly and was a member of the conference team all four years. She was a swim instructor for the Lawrence Swim School for 3 summers and for 8 years she taught private swim lessons and was a lifeguard for the Lawrence Parks and Recreation. Megan was an assistant coach for the Black Hawk Area Swim Team (BLAST) in Spring 2008 and she is the coach for the YMCA Bedell Barracudas.
Shane Akin

Shane brings a warm, welcoming personality. He has proven experience by keeping facilities functional and clean while serving members. Shane is dedicated to the Mission of the YMCA and takes pride in seeing members enjoy the beautiful facility. While away from the facility, Shane is often found enjoying the outdoors hunting or fishing.
